# Northdoc

> Northdoc is a document intelligence API that reads PDFs, scans and Office files the way a person does: text, tables, charts and signatures. It returns every page's text, pictures and vectors, and on request structured JSON with a page citation for every value. It processes and stores everything in Australia. Pay per page, with free test keys.

Northdoc is built by NorthCape Technology (https://northcape.tech), an Australian company
that builds private AI and workflow automation for legal, conveyancing and matter-based
teams. You send Northdoc a document through a REST API; it runs OCR and layout analysis,
keeps the document's figures and picture-heavy pages as images, and returns every page's
text, tables and pictures, with vectors on request. Ask for more and its AI returns data
matching your JSON Schema, built-in fields like a summary and the parties, or answers to
your questions, with a page, source quote and confidence for every value.
