Keeping and deleting

In short: the file you send is deleted as soon as it has been read. The result is kept for as long as you say (a day by default), then deleted.

• The file you send is deleted as soon as it has been read and its pictures made. If the document fails, the file is deleted 24 hours after it fails.
• The result (text, pages, answers and pictures) is kept for retention_seconds after it completes: a day by default, up to 7 days on the free trial, as long as you like (or forever, with 0) on pay as you go.
• A result you have never fetched is kept at least 24 hours after it completes, however short you set the retention, so nothing is deleted before you have had a chance to read it.
• When the time is up, the result is deleted and the document answers 410 document_expired. Its cost records are kept for your billing history.
• DELETE /documents/{id} deletes it immediately.
